Problem

Owners of a rural property or business in the countryside usually depend on expensive heating oil or LPG for heating. Rising fuels prices are making it more expensive to keep warm, and the bills just keep going up. The cold weather last winter has made many consider alternative energy sources.

However these may not be appropriate for rural properties as many were built before insulation was as important as it is today, may be listed and not suitable for these technologies.

For example tearing up floors to install underfloor heating, which is needed for geothermal,  is going to cost large amounts of money and is likely to be very disruptive. Even after the huge expense of the equipment and all the installation work it still needs large amounts of electricity to function.

After all that investment users of these alternative technologies are often disappointed by the poor performance of these systems. We spoke to a person in Scotland recently and he said that in a climate like theirs days can be warm but nights are cold, and underfloor is "all or nothing" heating, as it is very hard to accurately control, unlike old fashioned radiators, making it too hot by day and too cold by night.

Solution

If you don't want the huge expense of these technologies, worried about the work needed to install and the poor performance you will experience.

If you want a robustly built system that will last for many years supplying ample power for all your heating needs powered by fuel you probably have in abundance or can source cheaply locally. Even better the government will pay your fuel bill for 15 years !

Don't see why you should exchange one high heating bill for another if you install geothermal.

You want heat when the sun isn't shining.

You want a powerful heat source that can be easily connected to your existing radiator system.

Might want to heat an outbuilding, greenhouse, swimming pool or Jacuzzi as well as your house.

The solution is a Green Dragon high power wood fired biomass boiler, designed to provide cheaper low carbon heat for your rural home or small business. Made with pride in Britain by British craftsmen.

Jeremy Clarkson wrote in The Times ingear magazine: "If you buy a green house, you sacrifice the sensation of ever being warm". Wrong Jezza - Don't buy a green house, buy a Green Dragon !
