Example, four years ago our old LPG boiler failed. A new one was sourced and fitted, and it went well for four years, albeit a bit underpowered for our needs. Recently it failed, the repair consisted of a new printed circuit board, which cost £150 supplied and installed. This sounds fair enough but the board was a very poor design, standing on short legs at each corner with a large and heavy component right in the middle, the vibration from normal operation combined with the heat has obviously caused the tracks on the board to crack and/or the solder joints to dry up - and this is from one of the top manufacturers of gas boilers in the EU.......
